Assistant Manager, Human Resources
Position Summary
The Assistant Manager – HR will play a pivotal role in managing key HR functions at JAAGO Foundation Trust, including recruitment, training, payroll, HRIS operation, and compliance. The individual will ensure seamless operation of HR software, maintain relationships with bank focal points for payroll and staff matters, and coordinate HR activities across multiple projects. This position demands a proactive approach to fostering organizational efficiency, ensuring compliance with labor laws and donor requirements, and enhancing employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead the recruitment process, including job posting, screening, interview coordination, and reference checks.
- Ensure smooth onboarding and orientation for new employees.
- Maintain talent pipelines to support organizational growth.
Payroll & HRIS Management
- Conduct payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness.
- Serve as the primary liaison with banks for salary disbursements and staff-related matters.
- Manage and monitor HR software (Zoho and others), ensuring data integrity and efficiency.
Training & Development
- Support the design and implementation of training and capacity-building programs aligned with organizational goals.
- Facilitate employee development initiatives and track progress.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated employee files, HR policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare periodic HR reports for management and donor compliance purposes.
Policy Implementation & Compliance
- Assist in developing and enforcing HR policies to align with organizational and donor requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, Bangladesh labor laws, and NGO regulatory standards.
Safeguarding
- Uphold and promote the organization’s safeguarding policies to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults engaged in our activities.
- Immediately report any concerns, suspicions, or incidents of safeguarding breaches in line with the organization’s reporting procedures.
- Maintain professional boundaries and conduct that fosters a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of proven HR operations experience, with at least 3 years in the NGO/development sector (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of Bangladesh labor law and NGO regulatory frameworks.
Skills and other competencies:
- Proficiency in HRIS tools and MS Office applications.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing HR processes in donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
- Previous experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
